SBC ACTS of KINDNESS Initiative Beginning January 2012
Since you have been chosen by God who has given you this new kind of life, and concern for you, you should practice tenderhearted mercy and kindness to others. (Col. 3:12a)
In celebration of SBC’s 130th Anniversary, the entire church membership will be encouraged to participate next year in a spiritual formation initiative called Acts of Kindness.
This initiative will engage members in biblical reflection, community building, and intentional opportunities to be Christ-like by expressing kindness to friends and/or strangers. Acts of Kindness can occur at any time and in any place, within the church building or outside the church. They are spontaneous and random acts that can arise during everyday life experiences at work, home, school, while driving, shopping, and/or dining. Participants will record and share their acts of kindness through journal writing and regular small group gatherings.
The Acts of Kindness Initiative will be one powerful way to live out our 2012 theme: “From Good to Great!”.
Here is your opportunity to tell YOUR story! If you have memorabilia relating to Second Baptist and its members, please let us know. We’d like to get a copy of any pictures or programs you have. Dates will be provided to let you know when you can bring your items to the church to be photocopied. You will keep your originals. Remember, if you don’t let us know you have a story, then how can it be told? Please see a member of the 130th Church Anniversary Committee for more information: Deacon Robert Reece, Phil Gant, Deaconess Lonnie Barefield, Denise Martin, Tamara Johnson.
